It’s February, which means Valentine’s Day (and yummy chocolate like M&M’s candy!) and NYFW! I absolutely love NYFW…not because I actually get to go,
although I was invited to a couple shows this year – just didn’t have the time to
be able to travel all the way to New York right now (bummer, right?!), but because I love
looking at all the street style on Instagram, Snapchat and in various magazine
articles for weeks to come. Some of the looks that are worn by my blogging role
models are always so chic, perfect and inspirational, so I am looking forward
to seeing this year’s #ootds.

Speaking of looks, I did a little shopping this past weekend because I
finally grew tired of only fitting into three pairs of pants I own. This bump
gets harder to dress every single day ladies – seriously, but that’s a whole
other post. There were so many cute Spring arrivals in store windows that I
couldn’t stand it…I’m talking lots of ruffles, lots of bell sleeves and a lot
of tweed. For some reason, I am really digging tweed right now…it reminds me of
classic Chanel and Princess Kate and those are two things I always want to
think of when I get dressed lol.
That said, there is one big problem…tweed isn’t a very
forgiving fabric because it’s thick and heavy, and frankly it’s really difficult
to put this baby bump into stiff fabric! Before I got pregnant, I swore I would
be the most stylish expecting mother…and then I got pregnant and all I wear are flats and lounge clothes lol. But nevertheless, today’s look is an attempt at blending of all my favorite trends right now, while still being 23 weeks pregnant.
It has the classic pleats in the skirt and some ruffles
along the neckline of the turtleneck. All paired with a lower chunk suede heel
and a cute little bow tie. It’s certainly a hodge-podge of items I paired
together in my closet, but sometimes those outfits are the most fun!
Speaking of fun, how cute are all these Spring arrivals? Please
someone go buy all this so I can dress myself vicariously through you lol?!

Well guys – good news…my mom’s PET scan came back with great
results, meaning the cancer has not spread beyond her breast (thank you God!)
and I am officially married, effective last Saturday! Phew, it’s been one heck
of a 2017 thus far, but I’m finally starting to feel like myself again and I am
ready to get back into the swing of posting.

So without further ado, I’m so excited to finally share
these OTK burgundy beauties that I bought at the beginning of Fall and am just
now getting around to posting about. I was skeptical about the color – not because
I didn’t love the hue (I do!), but because I wasn’t sure I would wear them
enough to offset the price tag, but I’ve literally worn them a thousand times
already. And while it appears this color is sold out, these also come in a
beautiful navy suede that also happens to currently be on sale!!
And can I just take a moment to rejoice in the fact that I’m
officially over the half way point of this pregnancy?!! I’ll never forget the
day I woke up and all of a sudden none of my pants fit anymore – and I
literally mean none. Talk about a WTF moment!! I’m still adjusting to clothing
this ever-growing baby bumb – and I must admit, maternity clothing is terrible.
Like maybe even worse than terrible. So I’m trying my best to find items that
are not maternity that still fit… #TheStruggleIsReal Stay tuned for more on maternity fashion!
Maybe now that Lauren Conrad is pregnant (my idol!) she will
work on a maternity line with Kohls. Granted it wouldn’t be out in time for me
to capitalize this time around, but it would be awesome either way.

And I shared a few sneak peeks at my wedding over on my
Insta account – did you see them? Not too shabby for 40 days of planning,
right?!

Remember Me?

fashion blogger chicago quote
So, I’m sure you guys are probably wondering what the hell I’ve been up to, and why I haven’t been on the blog lately. Usually it’s because I’m just swamped with life, which in this case would also be true, but I haven’t really been too motivated either. This is a hard post for me to write, but I feel I should be up front and honest and I can’t imagine I am the only one whose 2017 has started off rather crummy.
Last Wednesday, after several appointments, scans and a couple biopsies, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3-A Breast Cancer, meaning she has cancer in her breast, as well as her lymph nodes. She will undergo a PET scan this Wednesday (3 days before my wedding) to determine if the cancer has spread to any other organs and to determine the best course of action in regard to treatment (prayers please). It’s really hard to be 9 hours away from your family on any given day, but when something like this happens –  the world just kind of stops and not only does it suck to be 9 hours away…it really F*CKING sucks (excuse my language).
My mom has always been a fighter…I mean the woman had a brain aneurysm when I was 2, has had high blood pressure since she was 19, had a hysterectomy when I was in college and currently has heart disease in addition to her newest diagnosis…so to say she’s the strongest woman I know would be a complete understatement.
So to be quite frank, I don’t really give a shit about fashion right now. My wardrobe consists of whatever I feel like putting on for the day, whether it matches or not because I just don’t give a rat’s behind what I look like at the moment. That’s not to say those who find solace in fashion are bad people – I’ve just recently discovered there are more important things in
this world than thigh high boots and starting trends.
Not to mention, none of my clothes even fit anymore because I’m 1000 weeks pregnant (I’m really only 19 weeks) with a baby that’s due on mine and Joe’s original wedding date (June 3rd)! What are the chances?!! So in case anyone read my last post (which was forever ago) and wondered why Joe and I moved the wedding to January 14th, and thought we were crazy for trying to plan a wedding in 40 days – well we are crazy – but the show must go on! And we are over the moon and so excited to welcome our first child, it’s just the excitement has gotten a little mixed in with all the other things that are currently going on.
So I think 2017 has handed me a trifecta of emotions – pregnancy (which made me crazy all on its own lol – thank you hormones #sorryjoe), planning a wedding in 40 days and the breast cancer diagnosis of my mother = I should voluntarily commit myself. I’m doing my best to get out of this funk, and I’m hoping to get back to a little more consistency on the blog (if for nothing else than to take my mind off of things).
So thank you all for your patience, love and support. You all are amazing and I’ll never understand why you take the time to read my posts, send me emails, and engage and support my life. I’m so grateful I started this blog and bonded with so many of you over this little corner in the Internet cafe. Thank You!
Now to drown my sorrows in a pint of ice cream. But seriously.

Nothing quite like some cozy pajamas, some fun and festive socks
and two adorable and loving fur babies to get you in the holiday spirit! This weekend has been a cold one, but one of the few and unfortunate “perks” to
being a blogger is that rain, snow, sleet or shine – the show must go on! I’m
not much of a winter person, as I get cold during the summer, so imagine how
cold I stay during the cooler months?! That said, I did my best to avoid the
outdoors (as beautiful as they were), and opted for a warmer
backdrop for these photos.

Now, you can’t break out the camera in our house without
exciting Ronaldo (he’s the cute little white dog). I kid you not – the second
he hears the little noise of turning on the camera, he jumps up from wherever
he is, runs to you, sits and tilts his head, as if to smile. And he stays that
way until you put the camera away! Getting some individual shots in our house is
simply NOT an option!
Wrigley on the other hand (she’s the bigger blonde dog) is a little different…she likes to
take pictures, but she also likes to play more so than pose, so she only sits
still for a few seconds and then it’s on like royal rumble! But with all her
puppy cuteness, how can you not just love her and soak up every puppy snuggle
she offers though?!!

If you’re looking for the perfect Christmas present, I
highly recommend a dog 🙂 Sure they’re hard work, they’re expensive and they require a lot of patience
and responsibility, but they are so worth it. When either of my dogs just
snuggle up to me because they love me so much, it warms my heart!! It’s the perfect present knowing that somehow Joe and I have trained and raised two happy, loving dogs with their own personalities and so many puppy kisses and hugs to offer the world.
But since I
know dogs aren’t for everyone, below is a list of some other really great
Christmas gifts for her or for him! Most stores (well, practically all stores) are offering expedited shipping and guaranteed delivery before Christmas, so if you are still trying to find a few last minute gifts – no worries!

Happy Monday, and Happy December! We had our first snow fall
here in Chicago yesterday, so it officially feels like the holiday season which
is always fun…although by the time we hit out 100th snow fall, I’m
sure I’ll be over it and ready for summer lol.

In other news, my life has been absolutely crazy lately.
Even more so than a typical crazy week for me…I haven’t been sharing a lot on
my blog or social media (I promise I will explain why soon!) but part of it was
that we were ‘forced’ to have to push our wedding forward from June 3, 2017 to
January 14, 2017 – which means I have nothing planned because if you know me at
all then you know I procrastinate everything in the world. So in 40 short days
(aghhhhhhhH!), I will marry my very best friend, except I may or may not have a
dress, we may or may not get out new invitations, we think we have a venue and
a musician (although we aren’t 100% certain), we may or may not have someone to
actually marry us and if we find wedding bands from somewhere other than a
crackerjack box – we will consider it a win (but seriously, though)! We have
enlisted the help of family and friends to whom I’m eternally indebted for
all their help with planning. God knows nothing would be planned at this point
if they weren’t helping, so I suppose I owe them my first born child!
So there’s that…which is truly more than enough to exhaust
me and keep me from having any energy to post on the blog or social media – but
I can’t earn my superwoman cape if I don’t conquer it all – so here I am,
trying to conquer the world 🙂
Speaking of capes, if I were an actual superwoman, this
would most certainly be my crime fighting outfit and this soft boyfriend cardigan from Target would definitely be my cape! I ordered it over Black
Friday (anyone else still waiting on some stores to just process their
orders?!!!) and I’ve already worn it 3 times in a week lol. It’s cozy and a
little oversized, so it gives this effortless, slouchy but still chic and
stylish vibe..or at least that’s what I was going for anyway!

Hopefully it worked!
