5 Blazers To Have In Your Closet

Floral Blazer (Size 0) | White Button Down (Size Small) | Black Bow (Similar here) | Denim (Size 25) | Black OTK Boots (Size 6)

Blazers aren’t a staple in my wardrobe, so the few that are hanging in my closet each have a unique and specific purpose (unlike the hundreds of pairs of shoes I have in there lol).

If you’re struggling with incorporating blazers into your day-to-day style, then today’s post is for you! I’m sharing the 5 different blazers I’ve invested in over the years, their purpose and different ways to style them. I’m also helping you figure out which blazers are worth the splurge ($$$) and which are worth the steal ($).

1. Black Blazer ($$$)

Every single person on planet earth (including men) should own a black blazer. They’re professional if you need them for work (a job interview, a business professional meeting, a work conference, etc.) but they’re still chic enough that you can throw a t-shirt underneath and a pair of jeans and look put together on the weekends. If you’re splurging on a blazer, this is the one to do it for. You’ll be surprised how many times you end up wearing it, and you’ll want a higher quality to withstand the amount of wear. For this blazer, I’d typically style it with black pants or a pencil skirt for work, and these boyfriend jeans and tennis shoes for the weekend.

2. Tweed Blazer ($)

I can’t think of a tweed blazer and not think of pearls and Chanel. Who doesn’t love that combination, right? Tweed blazers are the Jackie Kennedy and Kate Middleton’s of the world, and they’re reserved for those times that I need to present myself as a classic and timeless lady. Sometimes that involves work functions, sometimes that involves events such as baby showers, and sometimes that involves charity events. When you want to look fashionable, but classy – pull out the tweed blazer. I would typically wear these with work dresses, silk tops and bows. Lots and lots of bows.

3. Plaid Blazer ($)

I’m from Kentucky, so equestrian and preppy style can sometimes be second nature to me. If I’m feeling extra preppy and it’s Fall, you’ll find me in brown riding boots and a blazer (preferably one with elbow patches). These preppy outfits are typically reserved for day dates (back when Joe and I had those lol!), or casual outfits when the temperatures drop. Like I said, I’ll wear these types of blazers with riding boots, turtlenecks or classic button downs.

4. White Blazer ($$)

This is the second most worn blazer in my closet. I wear it instead of a cardigan (I’m not much of a button up, cardigan type gal) and so instead I wear a white blazer over sun dresses, pastel tops and on occasion the spring/summer sweater. This is also the blazer I’ll pair with shorts since I’m really only wearing this blazer when temperatures rise. Try styling a white blazer with a floral sundress (like this one) or shorts such as these!

5. The Showstopper Blazer ($ – $$$)

Yep, the showstopper blazer is just that – a showstopper. I wear this one interchangeably through many of the events/circumstances I mentioned above (like work, or PR events), but this is also the blazer I’d put on for a date night with some leather pants or a cute jumpsuit. When you want to make an entrance, exit, or a lasting impression, break out the showstopper blazer J This is the one blazer that also has no price specifications, because those unique, one of a kind pieces are sometimes a steal and sometimes they’re more of a splurge. This particular blazer …let’s not talk about it, just in case Joe is reading 🙂

Easter With The Woodfield Mall

A couple of weeks ago, we took a family trip out to Woodfield Mall to see the Easter bunny and to do a little Easter shopping with Beckett. The Woodfield Mall (in Schaumburg) has always been one of my favorite malls in the area. Not only is this the first mall I went to when I moved to Chicago, but it really does have a little bit of everything, so you can find anything you are looking for.

This may come as a surprise, but I love to shop 🙂 Even when I’m not buying anything, shopping is just fun for me. And don’t even get me started on shopping for baby stuff. I’ve said it before, but it’s impossible not to have a good time when you’re browsing the aisles in children and baby stores.

You know what else is a good time? Holidays! Holidays are so much more fun with children. When we took Beckett to see Santa in December, she was not a fan and we got that stereotypical “child screaming at the top of her lungs” 1st picture with Santa. That said, we weren’t expecting a successful visit with the Easter bunny either, but she loved him! She’s recently really gotten into stuffed animals (notice Demi from Vampirina? She spotted him in a store and HAD. TO. HAVE. HIM) and I think the Easter bunny reminded her of a giant stuffed animal. Nevertheless, we were happy to get a somewhat normal picture of her for the holiday!

We also used the opportunity to pick up some new clothes for our growing girl. She just recently transitioned out of 6 month clothes (yes, she’s almost 11 months old, but she’s on the smaller side) so we needed some new outfits that would fit her. Especially an Easter dress! If you saw my Insta stories, then you know she found the perfect one and picked it out all by herself.

In the end it was a successful trip. Some of my favorite memories with my momma are our mommy/daughter shopping trips (I got this love of fashion from someone!), and I look forward to having those same memories with Beckett too.

Ps: we might or might not have stumbled into an A&W and we might or might not have had more than one beer float. Sorry, not sorry.

Happy Easter, loves! I hope you have a blessed weekend!

Wearing Wantable

Leather Jacket (Size XS) | Pleated Skirt (Size XS) | White Ruffle Top (Size XS) | Black Suede Heels | Lipcolor (Lolita & Matte Orchid)

Life is complicated enough, so sometimes we deserve a little something that not only makes life easier, but a lot more fun too. Given my love of all things fashion related, you can always count on me to take an interest in something that is fashion forward AND makes life easier. So of course I was a shoo-in for subscription services that sent clothes straight to your front door. I’ve dabbled around with a few of these companies, but I never settled on one that I truly loved until my Wantable packed arrived and this beauty of a jacket was hiding inside!

But how did they know I was looking for a new staple leather jacket? How did they know how much I love gold detailing? How did they find this perfect jacket that I’ve looked for so long to find and never could? How are they THIS AMAZING?

Truth is, I really don’t know. I suspect they have fashion fairy godmothers working at their facilities, but I doubt we’ll ever really know their secrets. Whatever it is, this box contained so many colors, fabrics, and items I loved that Joe had to talk me off the ‘I’ll just take it all’ ledge.

And so I settled with this jacket that is just as appropriate for work as it is play. This outfit is one I wore to a work function a couple weeks ago. I took the jacket off at work because I run around like a crazy person when I’m in full work mode and I need my arms and hands to keep up with my craziness. Yes I’m weird. Anyway, after work I was able to put the jacket back on, and had I been headed to a happy hour I would have been feeling mighty fine about my style selections for the day, but instead I took the first train home to little miss Beckett. On a plus side, this jacket made me feel like a badass momma, which is equally as great a feeling!

So enough about me – let’s learn more about Wantable and how you get 50% of the styling fee of your first box, because let’s face it – that’s really what you guys are here for, right?!

First things first, you take a brief lifestyle quiz. I’ll be honest, it’s not super brief, but I wasn’t still answering questions after 10 minutes either. Just don’t expect to answer 1 or 2 questions and call it day.

Spoiler Alert: this might have been how they found out I loved gold over silver. Just saying.

You have the option to choose from a Style box (curated apparel and accessories), Fitness (handpicked technical and athleisure styles) or Men’s fitness. Of course I chose the Style box but I’m super interested in the Fitness box as well so if you opt for this one, make sure you come back to this post and spill the beans on how great it is!

For a $20 styling fee, the fashion fairy godmothers will wave their magic wands and ship you a box containing 5-7 items you’re guaranteed to love, straight to your doorstep. Try it all on, figure out what works and ship back what you didn’t fall in love with.

Spoiler Alert: You’re gonna love everything.

Wantable only bills you for what you keep, and YES, you’re $20 styling fee is applied to any purchases you make from that box.

There are so many great things about Wantable: like their 14 day price match for any items you purchase, their buy 5 or more items in this box receive an extra 20% off, their XS to 3X (0-24W) size options, or their 5 day window to try on items. Okay, I know, I’m rambling but don’t take my word for it. Try Wantable for only $10. It’s super simple and I just know you are going to love it!

A very special thank you to Wantable for sponsoring this post, but as always, all opinions are my own.

Casually Awaiting Summer

Tie Sleeve Sweater (Size Small) | Jamie Jeans (Size 26) | Pearl Sneakers (Size 6) | Lipstick (Touch of Spice)

Recently it got as warm as 60 outside and you would have thought it was summer here. I went outside for a picnic, walked home from church, took Beckett for a walk, and did anything and everything to just stay outside. Maybe it’s the fact that I work from home most of the week, and winter keeps us inside anyway, but I’ve really been feeling stir crazy and claustrophobic lately.

Winter was relentless here in Chicago. So much so, that I think I forgot what grass even looked like until recently, and the snow began to melt. Our house has a lovely yard that we didn’t get to enjoy enough of last summer because we didn’t move in until August. Because of this, I’m literally itching for mother nature to warm things up so I can get some much needed Vitamin D. Plus now that Beckett is older, I feel much more comfortable about taking her outside (I swear when she was an infant I lived in a constant state of paranoia!).

This outfit was something I wore around for the day a couple of weekends ago. Yes, it’s taken me this long to get it posted! It was perfect because I didn’t need a coat, but the sweater, denim and sneakers still kept me plenty warm enough. Anyone else really into the sneaker trend lately? I swear I think I’ve purchased like three or four pairs lately, and I have every intention of wearing them with just about everything this spring and summer.

What’s your go-shoe in the summer? Share it below or stop by my Instagram page and leave a comment on my most recent photo!
