Post-Work, Post-Office

Mothers Day is quickly approaching and while I bought my mom an incredible Kate Spade cross body bag almost three weeks ago (thank you Marshalls for the serious score!), I haven’t had a spare second to make sure it even arrives to her before the big day. Unfortunately I will be at a wedding this weekend and unable to deliver my momma’s gift in person, so fighting the long lines of the United States Postal Office was a necessity.
Considering I live next door to USPS, it’s kind of odd that I hadn’t made the time to do this already, but maybe (aka – likely) that was my procrastination setting in. With Mothers Day this weekend, I dragged my butt next door and made sure to priority mail this ultra fabulous bag (seriously it was only $60) straight to the door of my ultra fabulous momma. I can’t wait till it arrives!!!
I just know she is going to swoon over this bag, so y’all help me keep the secret and don’t tell her! Deal?!
What will your mothers be unwrapping this Sunday?

Rain Check?

Rain, rain – go away! Don’t come back – well ever.
If you know me at all, then you know how much rain and I are not friends. It’s cold, it messes up your hair, everyone forgets how to drive and I generally don’t like the feeling of having wet feet in shoes. I mean, it just isn’t feasible to wear rain boots with every outfit (I know, you want to – me too!) so sometimes you end up with that clammy and cold shoe/feet thing going on, which is just beyond words.
Case in point, the above attire. While I managed to bring the light rain jacket, and my little umbrella – I just couldn’t bring myself to wear some boots with these shorts. I may or may not have contemplated the idea in the mirror for 10+ minutes, but since we were meeting up with some of Joe’s friends, I decided against the idea (hindsight is SO 20/20). This decision ultimately led to some very wet canvas Tory Burch shoes (which thankfully are not brand new!) and some seriously cold feet (which for the record – I’ve heard is so much worse at a wedding :))
So anyway, as much as I wanted to take a rain check on the Blackhawks game and pass on the idea of going outside, I mustered through – to a Blackhawks victory and quite possibly pneumonia. Okay, I’m exaggerating a little on the latter…okay, exaggerating a lot.; but it was seriously freezing to attend a hockey game in wet clothes. So let this be a lesson to you – and don’t do it!
What’s your go to outfit when the weatherman calls for rain?

Spring Sparkles

What girl doesn’t love the warm Spring air and a little sparkle in her life? Am I right?! I am no exception! Matter of fact, I love a lot of sparkle in my life. Whether it’s my shoes, my jewels, or even my coffee mug – giltter is my best friend. So you can understand my excitement when I spotted these shoes on super ultra mega clearance!
A while back my momma (I get my love of shopping from her!) wanted to do a mother daughter trip to the mall and she wanted to stop in Payless shoes. My immediate reaction was ‘hmm….’. I guess I just never think to go there for shoes. Between Nordstrom Rack, 6pm.com and TJ Maxx/Marshalls, I thought I had my shoe game under control. Well long story short, I left Payless with three pairs of shoes. And as if that wasn’t cool enough, I only paid $45 dollars total! Cha-CHING! But these beauties were the crowning jewel of the day, ringing in at only $20 dollars. Thank you Christian Siriano (for the record – he was totally one of my faves on Project Runway!)
Moral of the story – you can find great items, at any price, in any store! All you have to do is look. So I challenge each of you to stop in a store you wouldn’t normally shop in, then report back with what you find!
Looking forward to hearing your stories!

Rocksbox IT Girl!

This weekend was rough…matter of fact, I am in desperate need of a weekend, to recover from my weekend. Aside from the rain and cold weather of Saturday, I suspect I may have been been food poisoned yesterday. 24 very long hours later, I am finally feeling better, but no thanks to any medicine. I owe it all to Rocksbox!
I checked the mail today and low and behold my first Rocksbox in all it’s glory was sitting right there..begging to be opened. I was contacted last week about being a Rocksbox It Girl and being the accessory lover that I am – I knew I had to get in on this action. If you haven’t heard of Rocksbox, let me give you a 5 second synopsis. Fantastic statement jewelry (Kendra Scott, House of Harlow, Gorjana – need I say more), new pieces every month, only 19 dollars! Yes, I am not kidding. And unlike some of other subscription services out there, Rocksbox allows you to create a wishlist in which the stylists will send something off your wishlist for you to try out.
This month I received the Perry Street Flora Crystal Necklace (wish granted), which is perfect and gorgeous and will match every outfit in my closet. I also received these simple, but fun Slate Crystal Spike Earrings, which will also match everything in my closet and this House of Harlow 1960 Surburst Bangle which has a leather detail that I am obsessing over. I am going to have so much fun with each of these pieces and I can’t wait to feature them in future posts.
Now something I haven’t mentioned (which may be my favorite part), is if you receive an item that you simply cannot part with  (I am going to have serious trouble with this), you can buy it! AND not only do you receive an Insider’s Price discount, but you also receive $10 in Shine Reward money to apply to a purchase each month! And as if that wasn’t great enough, I have the mother load of all treats for you guys…remember when I mentioned that I was a Rocksbox It Girl??! Well because of that, I get to share some treats with all my loyal readers! Use the code jessicalynnaxoxo and get one month free! Holy schnikey – you could be wearing this fabulous necklace by next week and at no cost to you!! Also you can also cancel anytime by visting their website or emailing (Seriously, you don’t even have to pick up the phone and call), so what do you have to lose?! Pop on over toRocksbox, take the style quiz and get some seriously fabulous bling by next week. You won’t regret it!

Happy Momma’s Day

Another holiday is almost here and with it comes the celebration of those lovely ladies we all like to call ‘Mom’! I just love my momma…she’s sweet, she’s funny and she’s the best momma in the whole wide world (yea…I may be a little biased :)) Nevertheless, when it comes to gift giving – she can be pretty tough to shop for. She was always one of those parents that would rather you spend your money on yourself than to buy her gifts, which inevitably never worked in her favor, but left my brother and I clueless while shopping.
That said, she does not like flowers. Plants – yes. Flowers – NO. One year my brother and I bought my mom flowers for Mother’s Day (granted they were slightly dying, but we were young, it was the thought that counted and Wal-Mart was really sold out of any other decent arrangements). Nevertheless, she made us return them. So there’s a fun fact for the day – you can, in fact get your money back on flowers lol!
So taking the number one gift for Mother’s Day immediately off the table, where does that leave me.??..two weeks out and still a little puzzled as to what to buy the greatest woman on planet Earth?!
So I figured if I am puzzled, there are probably some others who are hung up on what to get Mom this year as well. That sparked an “ah-ha!” moment (I love having those moments – don’t you?). So check out my momma’s day gift guide by clicking on the images and receive a few hints at what to buy Mom this year….there may not be a “World’s Greatest Mom’ coffee mug on the list, but at least all the items are still under $100 bucks! You can’t beat that!
