Spa Day Giveaway!

Maybe it’s just me, but lately I have been feeling a little more pushed to the limits than normal. It could be the fact that it’s been warm outside but we haven’t had air conditioner (will be getting it on May 15th and must admit, the constant heat is frying my brain!), it could be that I am busier than normal at my day job, or it could be that I really haven’t taken the time to pamper myself in a while.
And stress is just not good for the body (I know, I know – we’ve all heard that before), but inevitably if I am amidst a stressful time, my skin becomes a complete brat, my brain goes on the fritz and my hunger – well I practically eat everything in my sight. That said, I am trying to teach myself how to live a life free of stress.
I can’t really get into the whole yoga thing and trust me I’ve tried. I just can’t find my relaxation during all those poses…I’m either thinking ‘this pose isn’t challenging’, “this pose is too challenging’, ‘my freaking legs burn’, ‘is the person behind me starring at my butt’, ‘my pants are too tight’, ‘I need to stop at the dry cleaners on the way home’, ‘hmm – I’m hungry’, ‘why did I pay for this’, ‘ooh I like that girl’s shoes’, I wonder what Joe is doing’…you get the point. I’m like curious George, so the wheels on my bus are in constant motion.
So since yoga is not for me, I find solace in the spa – give me a facial, a little massage and a mani/pedi and I am in heaven! Especially since I am such a skin care junkie! So like I said, maybe it’s just me, but then again, maybe you’re feeling the stress too. So I’ve teamed up with some really lovely ladies to giveaway a Spa Day!! You can thank me later 🙂
All you need to do is go to my Instagram page and follow the rules. Yep, it’s that simple. So get moving and good luck!
Oh and remember – don’t stress!

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue! I just love weddings…I mean what girl doesn’t dream of that Cinderella moment all her life?! And the older I get, the more I enjoy weddings….the ceremonies (which I inevitably always tear up during – I don’t even have to know the couple to cry at their wedding #iloveLOVE), the receptions, but more importantly – the fashion!
The wedding dress is the ultimate fashion statement, and yesterday’s bride had a stunning dress that I oohed and ahhed over all night! A little lace racerback and a mermaid bottom?!- I mean COME ON! Well anyway, I have always made it a point to try and wear blue to every wedding I attend…maybe it’s cheesy, but I figure if the bride and groom forget their “something blue” then they always have me and my dress. Thankfully I was able to score this Lilly for Target dress during the release and was waiting for the perfect moment to wear it.
“Hello perfect moment, nice to meet you!”
The wedding was breathtaking…right on the water (Close enough to Canada that I couldn’t use my phone – Boo you AT&T!), and the rain held off just long enough for the ceremony to take place outside. Oh and did I mention it was 80 degrees?! Yea, it was pretty much perfect! So much so, that I am still in wedding mode. Which means I need another wedding to attend asap! So who’s getting married soon?!
Any strange wedding traditions that you follow?

Post-Work, Post-Office

Mothers Day is quickly approaching and while I bought my mom an incredible Kate Spade cross body bag almost three weeks ago (thank you Marshalls for the serious score!), I haven’t had a spare second to make sure it even arrives to her before the big day. Unfortunately I will be at a wedding this weekend and unable to deliver my momma’s gift in person, so fighting the long lines of the United States Postal Office was a necessity.
Considering I live next door to USPS, it’s kind of odd that I hadn’t made the time to do this already, but maybe (aka – likely) that was my procrastination setting in. With Mothers Day this weekend, I dragged my butt next door and made sure to priority mail this ultra fabulous bag (seriously it was only $60) straight to the door of my ultra fabulous momma. I can’t wait till it arrives!!!
I just know she is going to swoon over this bag, so y’all help me keep the secret and don’t tell her! Deal?!
What will your mothers be unwrapping this Sunday?

Rain Check?

Rain, rain – go away! Don’t come back – well ever.
If you know me at all, then you know how much rain and I are not friends. It’s cold, it messes up your hair, everyone forgets how to drive and I generally don’t like the feeling of having wet feet in shoes. I mean, it just isn’t feasible to wear rain boots with every outfit (I know, you want to – me too!) so sometimes you end up with that clammy and cold shoe/feet thing going on, which is just beyond words.
Case in point, the above attire. While I managed to bring the light rain jacket, and my little umbrella – I just couldn’t bring myself to wear some boots with these shorts. I may or may not have contemplated the idea in the mirror for 10+ minutes, but since we were meeting up with some of Joe’s friends, I decided against the idea (hindsight is SO 20/20). This decision ultimately led to some very wet canvas Tory Burch shoes (which thankfully are not brand new!) and some seriously cold feet (which for the record – I’ve heard is so much worse at a wedding :))
So anyway, as much as I wanted to take a rain check on the Blackhawks game and pass on the idea of going outside, I mustered through – to a Blackhawks victory and quite possibly pneumonia. Okay, I’m exaggerating a little on the latter…okay, exaggerating a lot.; but it was seriously freezing to attend a hockey game in wet clothes. So let this be a lesson to you – and don’t do it!
What’s your go to outfit when the weatherman calls for rain?

Spring Sparkles

What girl doesn’t love the warm Spring air and a little sparkle in her life? Am I right?! I am no exception! Matter of fact, I love a lot of sparkle in my life. Whether it’s my shoes, my jewels, or even my coffee mug – giltter is my best friend. So you can understand my excitement when I spotted these shoes on super ultra mega clearance!
A while back my momma (I get my love of shopping from her!) wanted to do a mother daughter trip to the mall and she wanted to stop in Payless shoes. My immediate reaction was ‘hmm….’. I guess I just never think to go there for shoes. Between Nordstrom Rack, 6pm.com and TJ Maxx/Marshalls, I thought I had my shoe game under control. Well long story short, I left Payless with three pairs of shoes. And as if that wasn’t cool enough, I only paid $45 dollars total! Cha-CHING! But these beauties were the crowning jewel of the day, ringing in at only $20 dollars. Thank you Christian Siriano (for the record – he was totally one of my faves on Project Runway!)
Moral of the story – you can find great items, at any price, in any store! All you have to do is look. So I challenge each of you to stop in a store you wouldn’t normally shop in, then report back with what you find!
Looking forward to hearing your stories!
